Grading System.

Auction grades are decided using the scale below. It is worked out by adding an interior and exterior condition. However, there are other factors which give a car it’s grade and these can make it confusing. For example a grade 3.5 car, can be very clean, but because it has had minor body repair, it is downgraded to 3.0. Also,if a grade 4 car has run more than 100,000 km it is downgraded to 3.5. If a car is the same grade and a different price , this is probably because it is still registered.

Auction Grade

4. Minor Paint blemishes and clean interior but may have a cig. burn. Generally quite a good car.
3.5 Minor Paint blemishes to 2 panels, minor work required. Interior may be dirty.
3. Exterior has scuffs and paint blemishes to various panels. Interior dirty and possibly stained.
2. Exterior pretty rough and interior very untidy....needs work.
1. A tuned car, a race car, a car which has had a hail damage.
RA A car which has had some very slight body damage eg. replaced bumper, but high quality repair...This car may have been rated 4 but marked down due to known repair.
R A car which has had some body damage but repair is more visible.
*** A car that has had an accident and not repaired. A classic car.
